A versatile natural product and a step into the future

With their primary rock powder AgraBas®, HARTSTEINWERKE Vogtland GmbH & Co. KG turns a by-product from the diabase quarries into a success for agriculture and private gardens.

This rock powder serves as a soil additive and thus as a kind of natural fertiliser. Rock powder contains valuable minerals and micronutrients. It has a positive influence on plant cell structure, photosynthesis and the formation of vitamins, flowers and fruits. HARTSTEINWERKE is working with diabase, a basic rock that is characterised by a high calcium content. It also contains iron, magnesium, potassium, sodium, aluminium, manganese, copper, molybdenum, boron, nickel, zinc and cobalt. It is now sold under the trademarked name AgraBas®. And demand is high because, in addition to fertilising, it is also suitable for use in stables. This is where the hygienic properties of the powder show their effect. Furthermore it has other advantages outside the stable – for example in biogas plants. There it accelerates the decomposition processes because it brings a particularly large amount of oxygen to the liquid manure and also enriches it with minerals.

The HARTSTEINWERKE thus supplements its range of services with a valuable new and ecological segment – a path that is planned to be followed even in other areas in the future.
