Within the project „Technik – Zukunft in Bayern 4.0“ the German industry offers in cooperation with universities so called girls‘ researcher camps. Girls and young women between 15 and 18 years shall have the possibility to get to know technical tasks and test their talents.
In cooperation with the "Bildungswerk der Bayerischen Wirtschaft" and the Institute of Technology Deggendorf, a first girls‘ researcher camp took place at STREICHER. Twelve female pupils from all over Bavaria had to deal with a drilling project – together they developed a drilling component, which enables engineers to exploit several gas fields within an area of 200 km in a time and cost efficient way. Apart from the project work within the company, the trainee engineers also attended different lectures at the Institute of Technology. The female researchers were absolutely delighted of the „technology week“ – together they presented their result of a flexible drilling mast to an audience of about 70 persons. After the workshop some participants were convinced: „I would like to study and work in the technical sector“.
The girls‘ researcher camps show different perspectives in technology and natural science to young women. They get to know the work routine of an engineer and within a special project they are involved in the business processes of different divisions.
